Obituary for Robert Perkins

Robert (Bob) Francis Perkins of Blackwell, OK left his family early Thursday morning, October 22, 2015. Bob was born on March 7, 1935 to Maynard and Myrtle Perkins in rural Hand County, South Dakota. He graduated from South Dakota School of Agriculture and left the life of a farmer and rancher to work in telephone and powerline construction. He married his wife of fifty-seven years, Charlene, in Alva, Oklahoma in June of 1958. Bob ended his professional career as a line superintendent for Kay Electric Cooperative in 1993.

Bob is survived by his wife, Charlene, of the home and a large family. His four children and their spouses include Kimberly Perkins of Blackwell, Marva and Dan Oard of Piedmont, OK, Tim and Jill Perkins of Texarkana, AR, and Marty and Renee’ Perkins of Dewey, OK. Bob has nine grandchildren who loved and admired him greatly. They are Jennifer, Shannon, Jared, Lauren, Katy, Corey, Brittany, Jessica, and Taylor. Bob’s family grew to include four great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jackson, Killian, and Cecelia and two more due to arrive in March. In addition, Bob has a surviving brother, Ray Perkins of Blackwell, and sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Wayne Bouzek of Rapid City, South Dakota. Family meant everything to Bob and he treasured the moments he spent with his brothers- and sisters-in-law, and his many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Maynard and Myrtle Perkins, in-laws, Charles and Ethel Rose, his brothers, Roy Perkins and Albert Perkins, and daughter-in-law, Terri Hambright Perkins. As a life-long member of the Greenleaf Methodist Church in Hand County, South Dakota, Bob’s trust in God remained constant throughout his life.

His graveside service will be Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at the Blackwell Cemetery with his brother-in-law Bill Rose and son Tim officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the 2nd floor nurses and staff for the loving and compassionate care Bob received during his hospital stays at Alliance Health Care, Blackwell facility.
